Voting For School Board Happens Next Week! Meet the Candidates:
We reached out to school board endorsement vote candidates Angelo Cocchiaro and Miranda Turner with questions submitted from the larger APE community of parents, teachers and students to learn the candidates’ stances on critical issues regarding APS and its students.
Only Miranda Turner responded to our inquiry. Her answers are shared in full on our website.
Why This Matters: The Arlington County Democratic Committee is holding their School Board Candidate Endorsement vote. We share broader community concerns that this process discourages broad voter participation and diverse candidates. However, this is the process by which our school board members are elected, and the winner of this endorsement has gone on to win the general election since 2003.
The Bottom Line: Your vote in this process matters!
Next Steps:
1. Learn about the candidates.
2. VOTE! Mark your calendars! Voting for the school board is IN PERSON this year:
May 7 (Sun) 10 AM - 6 PM, Drew Elementary
May 10 (Wed) 7 PM - 9 PM, Campbell Elementary
May 13 (Sat) 10 AM - 6 PM, Washington-Liberty High School
